Although the devs have been sketchy about comitting to Rift support, it's hard to imagine it not happening if the game is successfully completed. The starry expanse project is a Cyan-approved attempt to completely rebuild the game of Riven in Unreal Engine with reference to the original files. I believe realyMyst: Masterpiece is made in unity, does this mean someone could add rift support themselves? Does it require access to sourcecode? Could VorpX be used?
But as they're busy with Obduction, I don't see how this is likely to happen soon. It would almost certainly be easier to add Rift Support to Cyan's updated version. It's hard to say whether the new version of Realmyst: masterpiece ediction has sort of undermined his progress.

There's been no update since last year and I'm not sure if it's meant to be a functional version of the game or rather just a 3d model of the island. IGameArt is working on a new 3D build of Myst Island for the Rift. Here's the progress so far and included are many questions that I hope those in the know regarding VR tech can chime in on: I'm sure many of you, like me, are looking forward to using Myst in VR.
